How a mosquito catcher works

Most modern mosquito catchers use 3 main steps:

1. Attraction (bring mosquitoes in)

• The device uses UV light (blue light) to attract mosquitoes
• Mosquitoes are naturally drawn to this light wavelength
• Some advanced traps also use:
  • Heat (like human body)
  • CO₂ (carbon dioxide)
  • Smell (human-like scent)

  • Capture (trap them inside)

    There are 2 common systems:

    🔹 Fan suction type

    • A small fan pulls mosquito inside
    • It gets stuck in a container
    • Cannot escape and dies after some time

    • Electric grid (zapper type)

      • Mosquito touches a high-voltage wire grid
      • It gets instantly killed (shock)

      • Killing / storage

        • Mosquito either:
          • Dies due to electric shock
          • Or dies from dehydration inside trap box
        • Dead insects collect in a tray → easy to clean
